Étude III
How is dance built with a body that only exists because there is a camera that captures, records and eternalizes it?
Mara Ortiz and Pau Aran opened the doors of their ‘Étude III’ through a creative virtual process online, between Spain and Argentina. This dance piece resulted from a compositional process at a distance, guided by Pau Aran and performed by Mara Ortiz, with the technical assistance of José Gungolo and the collaboration of Diego Enrique and Pez Dorado Cultural Space in Bahía Blanca.
It investigates the notion of wonder and learns from this state of engaging with the world as it grows and develops. They asked themselves about the possibilities of interaction when challenged by the limits of distance, demystifying forms of composition that are conceived and designed mainly for the physical encounter.
Two dancers, two people, two stories celebrating a meeting and deciding to create a solo. A solo from a distance. Their voices and looks are ceremoniously connected. Chile, Spain, Argentina, far, near, screens, stages, early, late…
We asked ourselves about the possibilities of interaction when challenged by the limits of distance, demystifying forms of composition that are conceived and designed mainly for the physical encounter.
